Disability Resource Coordinator
Are you a self-starter with a passion for helping individuals with disabilities? This is a great opportunity to impact the public workforce system and ensure individuals with disabilities have equal access to employment and training services.
You’ll work with staff, partners, businesses, and individuals throughout Fulton, Montgomery, and Schoharie Counties and serve as a resource, a problem-solver, and a bridge-builder among community service providers.
The FMS Workforce Development Board (WDB) is seeking a full-time Disability Resource Coordinator (DRC) to provide expertise and to serve as a resource to the Workforce Career Centers and System, in the development, delivery, and coordination of workforce services for individuals with disabilities.
Job Summary:
The DRC will work with staff, partners, community stakeholders, businesses, and program participants to expand system services for individuals with disabilities by:
-Improving the accessibility of the public workforce development system for individuals with disabilities;
-Improving coordination and collaboration among employment and training programs in the FMS area; and
-Developing a plan for the sustainability of the DRC services to include increased revenue from the Ticket to Work program.
Job Responsibilities:
-Assist workforce staff to expand their skills for working with individuals with disabilities;
-Assist in the recruitment of individuals with disabilities;
-Build community partnerships to improve employment outcomes;
–Coordinate and/or deliver assistance and training for partners and businesses
-Obtain/maintain a credential to provide benefits advisement and work incentive counseling to job seekers in receipt of Social Security Administration benefits;
-Establish the Career Center as an Employment Network (EN) under the TTW Program,;
-Help ensure that individuals with disabilities access the various career and employment programs and services they need;
-Engage businesses to increase awareness about the low cost of accommodations for individuals with disabilities, and provide work-based experiences and mentoring;
-Conduct outreach to the disability community and the organizations that serve individuals with disabilities to market workforce services and promote interagency collaboration
Qualifications:
-Associate or Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in a relevant field;
-Significant experience working in programs delivering services to individuals with disabilities;
-Knowledge of local community agencies, providers, and other disability resources;
-Ability to communicate with job seekers, business leaders, and workforce development staff;
-Strong communication, computer, and presentation skills;
-Ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
-Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, policy, and procedures relating to equal opportunity and non-discrimination;
-Strong knowledge of career exploration and job search processes; and the
-Ability to create and manage a broad network of professional contacts.
Job Details:
This is a full-time, three-year opportunity funded through NYS Department of Labor; continuation of funding will be dependent upon the successful creation of a sustainability plan.
Salary range: $45,000 – $62,000/year; commensurate with education and experience.

The DRC will work out of the 3 Career Centers in Gloversville, Amsterdam, and Cobleskill, NY.
